About Sugar Grove Community Church

The Gospel is the center of our church’s teaching and our life together. We gather around the good news of Jesus Christ every Sunday: His perfect life lived, His atoning death on the cross, His resurrection, and the forgiveness of sins that is found in Him and Him alone through turning from sin and trusting in Christ by faith.

Expository Preaching

We preach through books of the Bible on Sunday mornings. We preach book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse. Topical sermons have their place, but we believe the main diet of the church should be expositional sermons, where the main idea of the passage is the main idea of the sermon.

Prayer

We place a big emphasis on prayer. Jesus said, “my house will be called a house of prayer.” We want to be known as a church that is dependent upon God through prayer, and this is made evident in our corporate prayers and in the private prayer lives of our people.

Discipleship

We want to be a church that is committed to helping each other grow in our love for Christ. We seek to do this by regularly observing Lord’s day worship (Hebrews 10:24-25), as well as members cultivating discipling relationships with one another.
